CampusTours Inc. Produces Virtual Tour for Meredith College
[7/15/02] CampusTours Productions (http://www.CampusToursProductions.com), a division of CampusTours Inc., has unveiled a virtual campus tour for Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Meredith College virtual campus tour features high-quality 360-degree panoramic images of campus. CampusTours professional panoramic image team visited the Meredith campus and captured each of the panoramas using between thirty-five and seventy-five still images. The individual photographs were then stitched together by hand to ensure the highest quality panoramas, free of lighting artifacts and visible stitching lines.
"The panoramic process that CampusTours employs is a substantial improvement over simple two-shot solutions," says CampusTours vice president of production services John Piermatteo. "With two-shot fisheye approaches the image tends to get distorted, and there's very little that can be done if the stitching cuts off part of the image. The CampusTours approach requires us to take a larger number of photographs, but that allows us to create absolutely fantastic panoramas." Piermatteo adds, "Most colleges, once they see the difference, realize that poorly implemented panoramas can do their image more harm than good."
